Care Guide
Warranty & Maintenance
What our warranty covers, what voids it, and a practical maintenance schedule to keep your natural wallcoverings looking pristine for 15+ years. Prevention is always cheaper than repair.
Natural wallcoverings are an investment — and like any investment, they perform best with proper care. The most common issue we see isn't material failure; it's preventable damage from wrong cleaning methods or environmental neglect. With 15+ years of manufacturing experience, we've distilled our care knowledge into this practical guide.
Warranty Coverage
Our standard warranty covers manufacturing defects for 5 years from date of delivery:
| Covered | Not Covered |
|---|---|
| Weave inconsistencies beyond spec tolerance | Natural fiber variation (a feature, not defect) |
| Backing delamination under normal conditions | Damage from improper adhesive or wall prep |
| Dye-lot color deviation >±5% from sample | Natural color shift from UV exposure over time |
| Dimensional instability (shrinking/expansion) | Damage from humidity >70% or water contact |
| Fire-rating underperformance (FR products) | Damage from chemical cleaners or solvents |
How to claim: Email photos of the issue plus your order number to [email protected]. We respond within 24 hours with a resolution — replacement material, credit, or repair guidance.
What Voids the Warranty
- Wrong adhesive — using vinyl adhesive or pre-pasted methods instead of clay-based adhesive
- Insufficient wall prep — installing on unprimed or textured walls
- Wet cleaning — using water, spray cleaners or wet cloths on untreated surfaces
- High humidity — installing in bathrooms, pools or areas with sustained >70% RH
- Direct UV — prolonged unprotected exposure to direct sunlight (use UV window film)
- Unauthorized modification — painting, lacquering or coating without our guidance
Seasonal Maintenance Schedule
| Frequency | Task | How |
|---|---|---|
| Every 2–3 months | Light dusting | Soft brush or vacuum (low suction, brush attachment) |
| Immediately | Spot stain treatment | Dry eraser sponge, blot gently — never rub |
| Twice yearly | Seam inspection | Check for lifting edges; re-adhere with seam repair adhesive |
| Twice yearly | Humidity check | Verify room stays 40–60% RH; adjust HVAC if needed |
| Annually | UV assessment | Compare sun-exposed vs shaded areas for color shift |

Emergency Care
Water Spill
Act immediately. Blot (don't rub) with a clean dry cloth. Place a fan directed at the area to accelerate drying. If water staining occurs, the affected panel may need replacement — contact us for a dye-lot matched replacement piece.
Scuff or Scratch
Light scuffs can often be improved with a dry eraser sponge. For deeper scratches that expose the backing, the panel typically needs replacement. We maintain dye-lot records for 3 years to ensure replacement panels match.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the warranty cover?
Manufacturing defects: weave inconsistencies, backing delamination, dye-lot color deviation beyond ±5%, and dimensional instability. Coverage is 5 years from delivery date.
What voids the warranty?
Improper installation (wrong adhesive, insufficient wall prep), water damage, chemical cleaning, excessive UV exposure, and installation in high-humidity environments (bathrooms, pools).
How often should I clean grasscloth walls?
Light dusting every 2–3 months with a soft brush or vacuum on low suction. Spot-treat stains immediately. Deep cleaning is rarely needed with preventive care.
