A Class A fire rating, a REACH declaration, an FSC Mix line on a project submittal — a commercial specifier needs the paperwork behind each one. Grasscloths is a Chengdu-based design studio and trading party supplying grasscloth, sisal and other natural wallcoverings; every order ships with the material specification sheet, per-batch lot certificate and physical samples a submittal requires, so the brand or buyer can certify the material for their own market.
Every commercial order ships with a material specification sheet, a per-batch lot certificate and physical samples — the documentation a submittal needs. That paperwork supports certification to ASTM E84 Class A, CA TB117, REACH and FSC, issued to the brand or buyer in their own market, not to us. Specification samples ship within 24 hours of a confirmed request; production then runs 4–6 weeks for standard materials and 5–8 weeks for specialty materials, plus ocean freight. Minimum order is 50 rolls (about 250 m²) for catalog patterns; custom colourways start at 100 rolls.
Is your material ASTM E84 Class A?
It can be produced with a Class A backing on request, specified per project. We don't hold these certifications ourselves — the brand or buyer certifies our material for their own market. What documentation do you provide for a project submittal?
Material specification sheet with roll dimensions (0.915 m × 5.5 m, approximately 5.0 m² per roll), fibre and backing composition, weave description, and a per-batch lot certificate with dye-lot tracking. Physical samples are supplied for the submittal package. Documentation ships with every order, not on request.
Can you provide per-batch lot certificates?
Yes, on every shipment. Each production run is completed from a single dye-lot and the certificate records that lot. We also keep two strips of every pattern on file, so a later phase of the same project can be matched against the original run rather than against a photograph.
Which standards do buyers typically certify this material to?
Five recur in commercial specification: ASTM E84 Class A for US fire and hospitality, CA TB117-2013 for California flammability, REACH SVHC-free for the EU, FSC Mix for forest stewardship, and ISO 9001 for quality management. We supply the samples and documentation; the certification is issued to the brand or buyer, in their market.
Can you support a LEED or WELL submittal?
We supply the material data those submittals draw on: fibre origin, backing composition, adhesive compatibility and VOC-relevant specification. The credit application itself is filed by the project team. Our eco-friendly wallcovering guide sets out which material properties map to which credits.
What is the lead time for specification samples?
Specification samples ship within 24 hours of the request being confirmed. A custom colourway proof is quoted and scheduled at order stage.
