When the design intent calls for real grasscloth or sisal alongside a contract vinyl line — or a Momentum pattern named after a natural fibre turns out to be vinyl on its own spec sheet — the specifier needs three things: a sample that matches the palette, an E84 report on the exact backing, and a run that stays batch-consistent across the property. Can a natural wallcovering meet the same fire class as a Type II vinyl?
Often yes on the flame-spread class: paper-backed grasscloth and sisal with a fire-retardant backing can reach ASTM E84 Class A on gypsum board. Type II is a separate durability grade for vinyl and does not apply to natural fibre.
What is the minimum for a custom colourway?
