Boutique hotel suites, Brooklyn
All twelve suites wrapped in pale wheat fine-weave grasscloth. Two custom colorways developed against a Pantone TPG reference.
The designer's brief was direct: grasscloth that reads as warm daylight even on overcast mornings in north-facing rooms. GC-218 in its standard colorway was close but slightly cool. We developed two custom dye adjustments against her Pantone TPG references — the production team ran three strike-off rounds before she signed off.
With twelve suites across three floor plans, material sequencing was critical. We batched by floor and shipped with clearly marked room-by-room manifests. The installer confirmed that every suite received matched rolls before hanging began — a logistics detail that avoids most common batch-mismatch problems on multi-room hotel projects.
Eighteen months on, the hotel has reordered matching product for suite refreshes after wear at door frames and luggage contact points. This is normal for fine-weave grasscloth in commercial use, and the original batch record made re-production straightforward. We maintained the dye formula on file for exactly this purpose.
